Halloween dance is tonight at Snyder Center

Ghost and goblins will fill the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center this evening when the Biloxi Parks & Recreation Department hosts its annual Special Needs Halloween Costume Ball.

From 6 to 9 p.m., all ages with physical and mental disabilities will celebrate Halloween in their favorite costumes a the Pass Road community center.

The event is free and first, second and third place awards will be given to the top three youth and adult groups.

Door prizes also will be given away and grilled cheese and chili will be available.  Security will be provided during the event.

Elsewhere this weekend, the Southern Kingfish Association National Champions tournament, with about 150 fishing teams, will be at the Point Cadet Marina, the Redneck Tenors will perform at the Saenger Theater, Patti LaBelle and Jack Hannah’s Into The Wild will at the Beau Rivage, John Michael Montgomery and Brian McKnight are at the IP Casino Resort, and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” and Halloween is Coming featuring Kristian Nairn (Hodor from HBO’s “Game of Thrones”) will be at the Hard Rock.

News and notes: Senior prom, mitigation, BHS choir

Senior prom tickets:  Tickets to the 11th Annual Mississippi Gulf Coast Senior Prom, taking place on Thursday, Nov. 9 at the IP Casino Resort, are available for $15 at the Parks & Recreation office on Hiller Drive and at the Donal M. Choir fundraising efforts: The Biloxi High School Choir is continuing to look for traveling money to deliver some traveling music.  Now through Nov. 6 the choir is taking orders for holiday T-shirts and a Disney breakfast is coming up Nov. 4. To find out more about both initiatives, click here.
