“Halloween at Hiller” takes place this evening from 5:30 to 7:30 with family games and contests, hay rides and fire truck rides, face painting and soft drinks, hot dogs and candy.
The event is being coordinated by Councilmember Dixie Newman in the huge west Biloxi city park, which is north of Pass Road at Hiller Drive, or east of Popp’s Ferry off Atkinson Road.
Police Explorers to seek top dogs at Saturday fest
The Biloxi Police Explorers are sponsoring a Dog Haven Festival with ribbons and trophies for dogs that excel in a number of competitions on Saturday at the Biloxi Dog Park, across from the Margaret Sherry Memorial Library on Popp’s Ferry Road.
The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature beauty, talent, agility and other contests for dogs. Food, drinks and vendor booths will be available for the public.
Dog Haven is a fund-raiser for the Biloxi Police Explorers.

Got drugs? Residents with unused and unneeded prescription drugs can drop them off at the Lopez-Quave Public Safety Center on Porter Avenue Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s part of a nationwide DEA-coordinated program to help safely dispose of prescription medications.

Pool hours: The Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center swimming pool will be extending its hours, beginning Tuesday, Nov. 5. The Tuesday and Thursday pool hours will be 6 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. The Monday, Wednesday and Friday hours will remain 6 a.m. to noon.
Police retirees: A ceremony honoring retirees of the Biloxi Police Department will be Nov. 8 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Biloxi Civic Center.
