Funding measures back before council again

Five funding issues tabled by the majority of the City Council will be back before councilmembers in a special meeting Tuesday morning at 10.

All five of the measures deals with employee pay and benefits.

The meeting Tuesday is scheduled to begin with an update on city finances by Director of Administration David Staehling.

Weekend lineup: Racing on the water and more

Dozens of racing boats, with some reaching speeds as high as 150 mph, will be zooming along the waterfront in east Biloxi for the 2010 edition of Smokin’ the Sound.

Racing enthusiasts will have a chance to view the boats and their hovering helicopters from a number of vantage points in east Biloxi, or see the vessels up close at the race village on Point Cadet.

Among the other highlights this weekend are performances by Wynonna at the IP, David Copperfield at the Beau, Al Green at the Hard Rock, and William Sackett and the Rythmaires performing for a Red Cross benefit at Beauvoir.

Three events of note taking place next week:
