Football, cheerleading, swimming and more, oh my!

Looking for youth activities outside of school, well look no further!

The Parks and Recreation Department this weekend will soon be conducting registration for football, cheerleading and  later on you’ll see registration for swimming as well as tryouts for the swim team.

On Saturday, Aug. 6 and Saturday, Aug. 13, registration for youth football and cheerleading will take place from 9 a.m. to noon at the Donal Snyder Community Center, 2520 Pass Rd.

Football is open to children ages 5 to 12, cheerleading for ages 6 to 12 and fees for Biloxi residents range from $30 to $90 depending on the number of children registered. It is $50 per child for non-Biloxi residents.

On Monday, Aug. 15, registration for fall swimming lessons will begin. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Biloxi Natatorium, the aquatics division will be filling more than a half dozen classes for ages 6 months to adults.

Lessons are held Monday through Thursday for two weeks at 5:30 and 6:30 p.m.

The two week sessions begin on Monday, Sept. 6 and fees for each session are $30 for Biloxi residents and $50 for non-Biloxi residents.

The aquatics division will also being holding tryouts for its Biloxi Elite Swim Team. B.E.S.T., as the team is called, is an all year round, competitive swimming team open to all ages that are able to efficiently swim 25 yards.  Tryouts will be held at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, Tuesday, Aug. 23 and Thursday, Aug. 25 at the Biloxi Natatorium. Membership and training fee information will be available at time of tryouts.
