Fireman’s Day parade is Sept. 17

The annual Biloxi Fireman’s Day Parade rolls through downtown Biloxi on Saturday, Sept. 17.

The parade, which will feature firefighting vehicles from responding fire departments Coastwide, will begin at 10 a.m. at the foot of Lameuse Street. The parade will proceed westward on MLK Boulevard to Howard Avenue and end at the West End Hose Co. No. 3, where an open house will be held, with hamburgers, hot dogs and soft drinks.

Blue Mass: The annual 9-11 Blue Mass is Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. at the Nativity BVM Cathedral in downtown Biloxi.

East Biloxi work: The Public Works Department has released a new detailed report showing progress of east Biloxi infrastructure work up to July 2016. The bad news: Only 3 percent progress from the report three months earlier. The good news: Permanent paving, water, sewer and storm drainage made headway on Division Street, a key to the project.  The July 2016 report, can be found in the Restore Biloxi archives.
