The Biloxi Fire Department is teaming up with the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services in collecting gifts for children in Harrison County.
As part of the DHS Christmas Gift Drive, firefighters are asking residents to drop off wrapped gifts at any of the nine firehouses in Biloxi between now and Dec. 15.
Requested items are for children up to age 16 and may include toys, toiletries, educational gifts, baby wipes and diapers.
DHS currently has over 774 children in its care.
“We can all appreciate the importance of family, especially at this time of year,” Biloxi Fire Chief Joe Boney said. “We have the means to make Christmas a little more special for those children who have been placed in the care of DHS.”
Gifts should be new, wrapped and labeled with the appropriate age and gender. For more information about the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services’ Gift Drive, call 228-897-5790, ext. 4. For the location of your nearest fire station, call the Biloxi Fire Department at 228-435-6200.
