Firefighters seeking names for smoke detector installation

Does your home have a working smoke detector? Well, Biloxi firefighters can assist but you have to call first.

As part of the department’s fire prevention program, firefighters will go to the homes of residents in need of a smoke detector and install one.

“The smoke detector is installed free of charge and is maintenance free with a 10-year lithium battery,” Biloxi Fire Department Deputy Chief Vincent Payne said.

This is an ongoing service that the department provides for the safety of Biloxi residents.

“We have received 2,022 smoke detectors thanks to the Assistance to Firefighters Grant and we are ready to install them,” Payne said.

To join the program, contact Deputy Chief Payne by calling the Biloxi Fire Department at 228-435-6200 or email vpayne@biloxi.ms.us.
