Firefighters, Police to seek donations for MDA

U.S. 90 at Porter Avenue, in the shadow of the Biloxi Lighthouse, will be a gathering place for Biloxi firefighters and police officers Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday as the first responders ask motorists for donations to the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

It’s the 2018 Fill the Boot campaign, continuing firefighter support of MDA that goes back more than 60 years.

Firefighters and police will be at Porter and U.S. 90 accepting donations daily from 7 to 8:30 a.m. and from 4:30 to 6 p.m.

Funds raised help MDA’s efforts to fund groundbreaking research and life-enhancing programs, such as state-of-the-art support groups and care centers, including the MDA Care Center at Children’s Hospital and LSU Healthcare Network in New Orleans, and Jackson (Miss.) Medical Mall. The funds also help send more than 92 kids to a life-changing experience in an environment without barriers at MDA Summer Camp at Camp Starlite – all at no cost to their families.
