Skilled mechanical work in the maintenance and repair of a variety of automotive, construction and maintenance equipment. Assists in the execution of the preventive maintenance program, troubleshooting mechanical problems, directing and evaluating the work of automotive mechanics involved in the repair, maintenance, and overhaul of all city vehicles and automotive equipment with the exception of the Police and Fire Departments. Analyze and solve problems; make work orders; pick up materials for jobs and order parts; deliver and pick up units for outside services; change tires and air up tires in the field; tow vehicles and equipment that have broken down; jump start vehicles in the field and at shop; pull trucks and equipment out of bog; rebuild small equipment motors; sharpen chain saws; make new chains for chain saws. 24 Hour Emergency Call

Education & Experience:

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; automotive repair experience; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have a valid Mississippi Driver’s License the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
