This week in economic development, the department issued the building permit for the new “Blind Tiger Restaurant”, which will be located on Beach Boulevard between Shaggy’s and the Blue Crab House Restaurants. The Blind Tiger currently has a very successful location in Bay Saint Louis and the owner expects even greater success with the Biloxi location.
Construction continues on the “Kelly’s Seafood and Sports Bar Restaurant” also located on Beach Boulevard between the South Beach Condominiums and the Waffle House. The project is scheduled to be completed by “Crusin’ the Coast” in October. Construction also continues on the Walmart Neighborhood Market on Pass Road and the Arbor Landing Apartments on Popp’s Ferry Road.
This week the Development Review Committee reviewed the site plan for the proposed “Jam Lane Plaza”, a two-phase retail and office development to be located on Jam Lane just off Popp’s Ferry Road. DRC also reviewed a proposal to create a primitive reenactment campground for “Beauvoir”.
On the Planning Commission Agenda for next Thursday is an application to change the zoning for property located at 950 and 956 Beach Boulevard from RM-10 (Residential Multi-Family, 10 units per acre) to CB (Commercial Business). This zoning change, if approved, would allow a La Quinta Inn and Suites Hotel to be constructed, which would provide additional hotel rooms for baseball and other tourism related activities..
