Developers seek new hearing dates for proposals

Two cases scheduled for this afternoon’s Planning Commission meeting are scheduled to be removed from the agenda at the request of the developers and will be considered at a future meeting.

Belle La Vie/Pitcher Point is a request to change the zoning for 626 acres in the northern part of the city from Agricultural to Single Family, Multi-Family, and Regional Business.

Additionally, Williams Recycling has asked that its proposed case be continued. The case involves a grandfathered use that existed when the city annexed Old Highway 67. The owners are asking to bring the zoning into compliance with the existing business they have operated there for years. The property is currently zoned Agricultural and would be rezoned to Industrial.

The Planning Commission, which is made up of 15 citizens appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, reviews development plans and makes recommendations to the City Council. The commission meets the first and third Thursday of every month at 2 p.m.  Meetings are in the auditorium of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Municipal Building, 676 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
