Work involves performing a variety of technical clerical functions. Collect cases for court files; pulls warrants to match arrest sheets; make capiases a part of court cases if necessary. Review court documents including records and files. Issue notices, subpoenas, re-settings, and other case information; compute applicable dates for service and return of service, and authenticate documents. Assist in compiling criminal and traffic docket for court and assist in setting cases. Assist in handling of appeals, the issuance of capiases and requisite paper work involved, compilation of money reports and any other necessary data and assist in the preparation of abstracts for other agencies. Accept payments and write receipts for payments of fines at window and keep accurate entry of payments in court records; provide time payments through promissory notes where necessary to assure collection of fines, and following up when payments are not made in a timely manner. Enter required dispositional information in court docket books and on video display terminal and/or other records. Answer phone calls; assist in answering inquiries; provide information concerning continued and scheduled cases.

Education and Experience:

High school graduate; court clerical experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience which would provide knowledge, abilities and skills.  Must possess a valid Mississippi Driver’s License or have the ability to obtain one prior to employment.
