A leading public health advocate, writing in the December issue of BNews Monthly, admits “we are all becoming very sick and tired” of hearing about the coronavirus, but, as a vaccine is months away, “we all need to take safety measures to protect everyone.”
Dr. Robert Travnicek, who for more than two decades served as the health department’s leader in south Mississippi, implores Biloxi residents to take “small acts,” such as wearing a face mask, social distancing and basic hand hygiene to help curb the spread of COVID-19.
Travnicek’s plea, along with two pages of COVID-19 stats statewide and locally, are among the highlights of the December issue of BNews Monthly, the municipal newsletter that is due in mailboxes and PO boxes across the city on Friday and Saturday.
Among the other stories: a Q&A on debris removal; previews of Christmas on the Water, and holiday events at Edgewater Mall and the Biloxi Visitors Center; holiday kitchen safety tips, and a host of regular features: Back in the Day, Community Calendar, infrastructure maps, Biloxi VA Today, Nick L. Shrimp and the December BTV listings.
The monthly city newsletter is supported by a host of community-minded advertisers: Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort, Edgewater Mall, Mississippi Power, Merit Health Biloxi, Palace Casino Resort, Biloxi Public Schools, Stevens Eye Care, and Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel.
