CTA urges residents to use pick up points; tracking info

Coast Transit is advising residents who need evacuation transportation and are able to get to a community pick up point to do so, instead of registering with CTA.

Only those who cannot get to a community pickup point should register at 896-8080, CTA Director Kevin Coggin said.

Although transportation will be available between 1 and 6 p.m. Sunday, resident are encouraged to arrive at community pick up points between 1 and 2 p.m. to allow adequate time for an orderly process and to minimize wait times.

School buses will carry people from these locations to the Red Cross Shelter at the Mississippi Coliseum in Jackson, where they will be fed and cared for by MEMA until it is safe to return to the Coast.

Each person will be allowed to bring only two bags. Small pets will be allowed but must be in a pet carrier and will count as one of the two bags.
