CSX updates status of rail crossing work

CSX this morning provided this status report on upgrades and associated closings at its rail crossings Biloxi:

— DeBuys Road: scheduled to re-open this afternoon, around dusk.

— Eisenhower Drive: scheduled to re-open Wednesday afternoon.

— Iris Street: closed this morning and will remain closed as long as 48 hours.

— Veterans and Robenberg avenues: scheduled to close Wednesday, as early as 7 a.m.

— Oak Street: scheduled to close for several hours beginning Wednesday, as early as 7 a.m., for temporary repairs, and will re-open later Wednesday afternoon.

CSX, which expects to have as many as 17 trains a day using its Gulf Coast line as early as Feb. 1, has an 80-worker team making repairs to two to three-mile stretches of track at a time in Biloxi this week.

The city has asked CSX to help provide timely reports to the public regarding the status of temporary rail closures to help motorists plan alternate routes. The city has also asked that CSX try to avoid multiple rail closures where possible.
