Cruisin’ The Coast seeks ‘Cruisin’ Krewe’ volunteers

Cruisin’ The Coast is looking for fun-loving Coastians who want to be a part of “America’s Largest Block Party.”

The success and growth of Cruisin’ The Coast has made it necessary to seek community volunteers to help with the annual event. The volunteers, who will be known as the “Cruisin’ Krewe,” will assist staff and current volunteers with tasks before, during and after the event.

Cruisin’ The Coast hosted its first event in 1996, with 374 vehicles from surrounding states. Last year, 8,308 vehicles registered from 40 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and Germany. Cruisin’ The Coast is a non-profit 501(c)6 organization.

“For two decades, our ‘host car clubs’ have provided all the yellow-shirted volunteers our cruisers have come to know and depend on,” said CTC Executive Director Woody Bailey. “A dozen local clubs have provided approximately 700 volunteers annually, making CTC known for its friendliness and hospitality in the past few years. We’ve added events, stamping venues and evening activities. Now we find ourselves needing more help.”

Cruisin’ Krewe volunteers will assist with traffic control inside venues, hospitality, vehicle registration and more. “Cruisin’ Krewe volunteers are needed for almost every event and location we have,” Bailey said.  “Our biggest need is for Krewe members to help direct traffic inside our various venues and at a select few of our events. Of course, hospitality and helpfulness are a major part of all that we do and are known for.”

CTC volunteers must be at least 18 years old and commit to working at least 8 hours, which is normally 2 or more 4-hour shifts. Most Cruisin’ Krewe opportunities will require volunteers to stand for most of your volunteer shift; most volunteers will work outside. Some opportunities require specialized computer skills. “Being a Cruisin’ Krewe member will require some work, but it will give you a fun, up close look at the cars and trucks, our cruisers and the event itself,” Bailey said.
