Council to meet twice Tuesday morning; other news and notes

The Biloxi City Council is scheduled to have two meetings Tuesday morning: an 8:45 gathering that includes discussion of two zoning issues, and a 9 o’clock budget workshop.

Both meetings are at City Hall and are open to the public.

The agenda for the 8:45 meeting includes a proposed re-zoning for hospitality business for Seashore Manor to allow short-term lodging, and a proposal that would re-zone an 80-acre beachfront tract of land in east Biloxi, from Dukate to Kuhn streets, to a waterfront designation, a city zoning designation that would allow, among other things, the establishment of casino resorts.

A third item on the agenda would approve a $2.8 million contract with Lane Construction Co. for the reconstruction of Howard Avenue from MLK Boulevard to Myrtle Street.
