Council to meet Tuesday morning, afternoon

Members of the Biloxi City Council will meet Tuesday morning at 11:30 and return that afternoon for their regular 1:30 meeting, which will include three measures involving a proposed 84-unit condo development near the site of the former Biloxi Hilton on west beach.

The 11:30 meeting is actually a public hearing to hear comments regarding the city’s intent to cross a number of private properties to clear drainage systems and ditches of storm debris. To see a list of the properties, as included in a notice published two weeks ago, click here.

The 1:30 meeting includes 16 measures in all, including an ordinance that would limit the amount of time allotted for council members to speak at the outset of meetings.

Meantime, the Winner’s Circle for Children, a Kentucky group that promotes literacy, on Saturday will present a football game at Biloxi High stadium, where former NFL players will take on a team of Biloxi public safety workers and Keesler folks. Game time is 1:15 p.m.; admission is $2. It’s called the American Heroes Candy Bowl.
