Contractors: Gulf Regional seeks JLUS proposals

Gulf Regional Planning Commission is requesting proposals from qualified contractors to implement the recommendations of the 2017 Joint Land Use Study for Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi and the Naval Construction Battalion Center in Gulfport.

The goal of the JLUS is to protect the viability of current and future missions at Keesler and the Seabee Center, while accommodating community growth, sustaining the economic health of the region, and protecting public health, welfare, and safety.

Among the objectives of the JLUS are developing a height hazard map, creating an overlay district surrounding Keesler to support compatible development, modifying permits involving such events as laser light shows, fence line compliance and frequency interference; and strengthening existing agreements involving emergency responders preparation and response.

Gulf Regional will receive proposals from interested contractors until 5 p.m. (Central), Wednesday, May 23. GRPC also notes that Disadvantaged Business Enterprises or DBEs, for-profit small business concerns where socially and economically disadvantaged individuals own at least a 51 percent interest, are encouraged to apply.
