Cones, barricades to be picked on U.S. 90

The prospect of a hurricane being in the Gulf of Mexico this weekend is beginning to impact some functions.

Police this afternoon announced that traffic cones will not be used this weekend as part of the city’s special-events traffic plan, and, because of the threat of inclement weather, the Public Works Department on Friday morning will be picking up barricades that had been pre-positioned for the planned black spring break.

Police had planned to make a decision on Friday on whether to deploy cones to help manage traffic, but weather considerations pushed up the decision.

The city’s weekly A to Z video report, typically published on Friday, arrives a day early, with details on city issues and more.
