Coast Transit to offer rides to shelters

Coast Transit will provide free transportation to and from cold-weather shelters serving Biloxi Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights.

The National Weather Service says temperatures are expected to dip into the mid-20s over the next three nights, prompting county emergency managers to open shelters from 4:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. the next day, beginning Thursday afternoon.

CTA will provide transportation from its fixed routes to two shelters, the Kenny Fournier Multi-Purpose Center on Automall Parkway in D’Iberville or to the Salvation Army Center on 22nd Street in Gulfport.

Passengers using the free bus service should notify bus drivers they are traveling to or from the shelters.
