Clearing begins for new junior high

This week in community development, the city council approved a zoning change, and a conditional use application for property located at 386 Meaut Street, to be utilized for Short Term Rental. The Development Review Committee reviewed site plans this week for a new Athletic Building Facility for Biloxi High School, and a car dealership for Pass Road.

Also this week, site clearing and grading have begun at the New Biloxi Jr. High School location on Jam Lane, and at the new Woody’s Roadside Grill on Beach Boulevard. Building Permits were issued for the new French Colonial Memorial Garden to be located on the Moran site next to the Biloxi Visitors Center, and for Taco Sombrero at 2595 Pass Road. Permits were also issued for two new single family houses. A temporary Certificate of Occupancy was issued for the new medical office for Dr. Michael Diaz located at 936 Tommy Munro Drive. The new office should be completed sometime next  week.

53 building permits were issued this week with a construction valuation of  $543,800. Building plans are currently being reviewed for “The Dog House” a new pet care facility to be located on Hopkins Boulevard north of Howard Avenue, and for 4 new single family houses. Building Inspectors performed 113 inspections, and code enforcement opened 42 new cases and resolved 19. Business licenses were issued for 8 new businesses, and 1 renewal.
