City to again offer special seating for Mardi Gras parades

The City of Biloxi will again provide special seating for disabled and frail, elderly residents to view the Gulf Coast Carnival Association morning parade and the Krewe of Neptune afternoon parade on Feb. 8, Mardi Gras Day.

The City is celebrating its 21st year hosting the special protected seating area, which is on the east side of Lameuse Street, just north of U.S. 90 at the Town Green.

Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis and participants should be at the location no later than 9 a.m., which is when police will close Lameuse Street to traffic. No seating will be provided for the evening parade.

Those interested should contact Kay Miller at 435-6339 or at kmiller@biloxi.ms.us..

Reserved parking will be available for agency vehicles displaying a special parking pass.

No RVs or private vehicles without this special pass will be allowed in the Visitors Center lot until after the Neptune parade.

Parking is limited at the Visitors Centers lot, once it is filled for the morning and afternoon parades no others will be accepted. General parking is available in surrounding parking lots. If you with to drop off a disabled or elderly guest, Volunteers will be on hand to seat them.

There is limited room for caregivers and immediate family members.

Chairs and bleachers will be available for seating; however, you may wish to bring your own lawn chairs. The Town Green will also be available for picnics between the tow parades.
