The Biloxi Blessing of the Fleet and Shrimp Festival, which observes its 83rd year this year, is accepting Shrimp Queen applications through April 30.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for a young lady between the ages of 16 to 19,” said Father Greg Barras of St. Michael Catholic Church. “Contestants must have roots in the shrimping industry of Biloxi’s past or ties to the current shrimping industry in Biloxi to qualify for participation in the annual pageant.”
The 2012 Queen will win a $1,000 scholarship to the school of her choice.
