City to host Fair Housing workshop

As part of the city’s educational outreach efforts to comply with the goals set forth in Biloxi’s Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice, a Fair Housing Act and Americans with Disabilities Act workshop is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 21, at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Development Department’s Auditorium.

The meeting is free and open to the public.

Charity Robinson, Fair Housing Project Coordinator for the USM Institute for Disability Studies, will present an overview of citizens rights and responsibilities under the federal laws.  Her assistance is provided at no cost to the city.

Once the institute receives formal notification of federal funding renewal for 2016, the city will schedule fair housing education workshops to benefit people working in the Biloxi housing market, including lending institutions, realtors, landlords and housing developers.
