City releases program for Katrina observance

The city’s Katrina memorial observance, planned for Wednesday at 8 a.m. on the Town Green, will feature a half-dozen local clergy members, high school students and the choir of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.

In the event of rain, the 30-minute program will be presented in the Saenger Theater in downtown Biloxi. Parking at the Town Green is available south of U.S. 90, near the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor; on vacant lots on Main Street; or in public lots near City Hall.

The program:

— Pre-program musical selection by choir of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church

— Welcome by Mayor A.J. Holloway

— Opening prayer by the Most Rev. Thomas J. Rodi, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Biloxi

— Prayer for the victims by the Rev. Eric Dickey of First Missionary Baptist Church

— “God Bless America” by choir of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church

— Reading of the names of Biloxi victims of Katrina, by Biloxi students Lindsey Bristol and Stefan Lawson, and St. Patrick students Stevie Cantrell and Chad Krivanec

— Prayer for first responders by the Rev. Harold Roberts of the Episcopal Church of the Redeemer

— Prayer for volunteers by Lori Beth Susman of Congregation Beth Israel

— Prayer for the future by Pastor Lindsey Robinson of St. Paul United Methodist Church

— Closing prayer by Pastor Argile Smith of First Baptist Church of Biloxi

— “This Little Light of Mine” by choir of Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church.
