City posts record day for fitness passes

The fitness program at the Donal M. Snyder Sr. Community Center in Biloxi kicked off the New Year with a record-breaking day, selling yearly and monthly fitness passes that amounted to more than 5,000 fitness sessions in one day.

“I think it’s a matter of New Year’s resolutions and people becoming more health conscious,” said Recreation Superintendent Jamie Lee, who oversees the fitness program at the Snyder Center.

Visitors to the center on Jan. 5 purchased family, annual and monthly passes for individuals.

The fitness passes – which start at $15 a month for individuals or $25 per month for non-residents – offer access to the Snyder’s fitness center, which offers free weights, treadmills, showers and two pools; and to the Natatorium, which offers an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool.
