Biloxi and community partners stand united for truth and civic pride

The City of Biloxi, in partnership with the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association, Biloxi Main Street, the Mississippi Gulf Coast Chamber of Commerce, and the Biloxi Bay Area Chamber of Commerce stands together in support of integrity and responsible public dialogue in response to a social media page spreading misleading information about the Mayor, City Council, City Administration, and the City of Biloxi.

While the City of Biloxi fully supports freedom of speech and open discussion, the deliberate spread of disinformation and satire presented as fact disrespects the hard work of those who serve this community and undermines the city’s continued progress.

“The men and women who serve Biloxi, elected council members, officials, and city staff, work tirelessly to make Biloxi a place we can all be proud of,” said Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich. “We welcome questions and value open communication. But intentional misrepresentation does nothing to move our community forward. It’s harmful to the community.”

Biloxi’s economy and identity are deeply tied to tourism, hospitality, and civic pride. The ongoing effort by this page to share false narratives risks damaging not only the city’s image but also the small businesses, tourism workers, and families whose livelihoods depend on visitors’ confidence in the Gulf Coast.

The City and its partners emphasize that constructive criticism, civic engagement, and transparency are welcome when rooted in truth and respect. Biloxi’s leadership continues to maintain open lines of communication with residents and business owners. Mayor Gilich also reminds residents that his door is always open to anyone with questions, concerns, or ideas to help strengthen the city and its future.

“We all benefit when conversation is grounded in facts,” said Linda Hornsby, Executive Director of the Mississippi Hotel and Lodging Association. “Our shared goal is to promote Biloxi as a strong, welcoming community, one built on collaboration, honesty, and respect.”

“Downtown Biloxi is built on connection between residents, businesses, and visitors,” added Kay Miller, Director of Biloxi Main Street. “When we lift each other up and work together toward progress, our city thrives. That’s the Biloxi we all believe in.”

The City of Biloxi encourages residents and visitors to seek accurate information directly from official and verified sources, including the City’s website, the City’s official social media pages, and established local media outlets.

Together, we remain committed to progress and the continued success of our Gulf Coast community.
