The Biloxi City Council, in its first meeting of the New Year, will consider three zoning issues and measures involving a host of ongoing city projects.
During a 1:30 meeting this afternoon at City Hall, council members will consider variances involving property issues on Water Street, Bayview Avenue and in Biloxi Commerce Park.
Also on the agenda: first reading of ordinances that would change zoning on several parcels on Oak, Seventh and Eight streets from residential to community business, re-zone 12 contiguous parcels on Bayview Avenue from commercial and residential to waterfront, and a request for a zoning change to construct 88 additional units at the Arbor Place Apartments off Popp’s Ferry Road.
Council members will be asked to approve measures to purchase kitchen equipment for the Biloxi Community Center, a quarter-million dollars in equipment for the Police and Fire departments, the hiring of an architect to design a new fire station on city property on Popp’s Ferry Road east of Cedar Lake Road, and resolutions involving the Caillavet Street revitalization project and re-construction of the Coliseum pier.
