‘Christmas in the City’ bows Dec. 3

Events for the whole family, including a chance to make new holiday ornaments, will highlight the Saturday, Dec. 3 Christmas in the City celebration in downtown Biloxi.

The event, sponsored by Biloxi Main Street, begins with a Children’s Christmas Walking Parade at 9 a.m., sponsored by the Christmas on the Water Committee. For information on the Children’s Walking Parade, call Sarah Rider at (228) 861-6997. Registration forms will be distributed through Biloxi schools.

Other plans for the festival, which will be held in the Vieux Marche from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., include photo opportunities with Santa (for a donation of either $5 or an unwrapped new toy). The Biloxi-Ocean Springs Junior Auxiliary will use proceeds for its annual Santa’s Helpers program, which benefits Coast children.

Among the other events:

–A performance by the Nativity Elementary School Choir at 10 a.m.

–The Slavenian Lodge Ladies Auviliary will sell pusharatas, a holiday pastry.

–Art Magazine will offer its latest issue on coastal artists and the healing process of the arts;

EJM will have an open house
Among the booths: Biloxi’s own Raymond Cox will have presentations from his new store and water gardens;

Pam Marshall of Diamondhead will have painted furniture; Cathie Milners of the former Apple Annie’s will offer painting techniques; the antiques store Circa 1909 will be on hand; and Michele Hirata of Fat Thumb Originals will offer vintage purses.

The Maritime and Seafood Museum and the Gulf Coast Symphony will be represented. Patti Golden will offer an ornament-making booth for children, led by Kathy Bristol, and Bobbi Fenton’s Clay Creations will offer little character pieces.
