August is the anniversary month of Camille and Katrina, and this month on BTV the public is reminded to stay prepared with replays of “Camille: The original monster storm”.
The city’s municipal TV channel, BTV, is airing Mississippi filmmaker Rex Jones’s hour-long documentary of the storm that ranks as the second-most intense hurricane to strike the continental United States, claiming the lives of 256 individuals and causing more than $1 billion in damage.
Jones wanted to make sure the original monster storm, Camile, got appropriate due in 2019 when the killer storm’s 50th anniversary rolled around. And as a reminder of how dangerous a storm can be and to not be complacent, the documentary will play each day this month at 8 a.m., 2 p.m., and 8 p.m.
“Biloxi Cooks!” this month offers a twist on a summer favorite, the watermelon. The chef of BR Prime, the “quintessential American steakhouse” at the Beau Rivage, prepares a Tomato Watermelon Salad. Videographer Renny Sherman visited the resort and toured the modern glam restaurant to put together this month’s episode. “Biloxi Cooks!” airs daily on BTV at 7 a.m., 1 p.m., and 7 p.m.
Also airing in August: Replays of Biloxi City Council meetings, in the three-hour block at 9 a.m., 3 p.m., and 9 p.m., and a host of local programming, including updates from Keesler Air Force Base, the Biloxi Public Schools, and the monthly infrastructure update.
