BNews: Road work update and $25 from Margaritaville

The September issue of BNews Monthly, with a detailed look at roadwork through the city and a $25 match play coupon from Margaritaville Biloxi, will begin arriving in homes and businesses throughout Biloxi on Thursday.

The 16-page issue includes a comprehensive update and detailed maps on infrastructure work north and south of the CSX railway, MDOT’s planned paving work on U.S. 90, a look at the new Main Street pedestrian overpass, and the status on the Popp’s Ferry extension and the proposed Popp’s Ferry bridge.

Also included is a Community Calendar with previews of major events taking place throughout the month of September. Margaritaville Resort and Family Entertainment Center, the east Biloxi resort with 200 arcade games, also includes the first coupon in a BNews Monthly, a $25 match play that can be used in September or October.

Besides Margaritaville, the September issue includes a host of other advertising, which helps underwrite the monthly newsletter. News & notes: Weekly report, Sports Hall of Fame photos

The week that was: Last week, the Fire Department answered 149 calls for service, including 98 medical emergencies and four fires; the Police Department handled 2,393 calls for service; the Community Development Department issued 43 building permits with a construction valuation of nearly $230,000;  and the Engineering Department continued to progress on projects throughout the city.  To see the reports covering last week, click here. 

Sports Hall of Fame:  The Parks & Recreation Department inducted six new members into the Biloxi Sports Hall of Fame.  The ceremony took place Sunday evening at the Biloxi Civic Center.  To see images from the event, click here

Big vessel: The offshore support-supply vessel Harvey Hawk, at 291.1 feet long and 75 feet tall one of the larger vessels to pass through the Popp’s Ferry bridge, was on the move Friday evening. To see video from the bridge, click here

Flags lowered: Flags at municipal facilities in Biloxi are now flying at half staff in memory of Sen. John McCain, who died on Saturday.  The flags will fly at half staff until sunset on Tuesday.
