Biloxi pools, Farmers Market set to re-open

Next week, the city’s Parks and Recreation Department will re-open the Biloxi Natatorium, along with several programs at the Donal Snyder Sr. Community Center and will resume operation of the Biloxi Farmers Market at a new location.

Here are details on each:

Biloxi Natatorium re-opens Monday

The Biloxi Natatorium, which received minor roof damage as a result of Hurricane Katrina, will re-open Monday, Nov. 14. Adults swimming will be Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and persons 17 and under will be allowed to swim Monday through Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

The Natatorium, which is located on Father Ryan Avenue, will be not open on weekends.

Admission is $1 for adults and $2 for children. Passes offering discount admission also are available, and expiration dates will be extended for those passes issued before the hurricane. Details: 435-6205 or cdobbs@biloxi.ms.us.

Snyder Center to re-open pool, fitness areas

The Donal Snyder Sr. Community Center in west Biloxi will re-open several of its programs Monday, Nov. 14.

The pool will be open for adults Monday through Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m. Persons ages 17 and under will be able to swim Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Admission is $1 for adults and $2 for children. Discount passes also are available, and the expiration date on any pre-storm passes will be extended.


The center will be not be open on weekends.

The Memorial Hospital Rehabilitation also will resume classes Monday. Classes will be from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Fees are $3 per class per person or 12 coupons for $30.

The Snyder center also will re-open its Fitness Center on Monday, and will remain open each weekday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Fee for the Fitness Center is $2 for Biloxi residents or $4 for non-residents.

The center’s racquetball courts and the walking track also re-open Monday. Fee for the racquetball courts is $3 per rental. Use of the indoor walking track is free.

Farmers Market to re-open at new location

The Biloxi Farmers Market will re-open Tuesday, Nov. 15 at a new location, under the I-110 overpass at Howard Avenue.

The market, which will be open each Tuesday and Thursday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., had previously operated at Point Cadet Plaza, which was heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Vendors will offer fresh vegetables, fruits and plants at the I-110 location, with free, covered parking for visitors.
