Biloxi officers helping in Robinsonville, Tunica flood areas

A half-dozen Biloxi police officers are helping provide police protection in the Robinsonville/Tunica areas that are now facing the threat posed by a swollen Mississippi River.

On Sunday, Biloxi officers Eugene Palmer, Doug DeGeorge and Ramon Castillo joined a contingent of other Coast law enforcers who responded as one of the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security’s Rapid Response Teams.

On Wednesday, Biloxi Police Lt. Bruce Johnson, Sgt. Scott Freeman, and Sgt. Frank McKeny will also deploy to the area.

Sgt. Milton Houseman, Biloxi’s emergency manager, said the effort is a project of the state Department of Homeland Security, which created rapid response teams from the Southern, Central and Northern regions of the state.
