Biloxi, Keesler plan joint exercise

Keesler Air Force Base emergency response forces and the City of Biloxi are conducting a joint exercise on Thursday, Dec. 11, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The exercise will be isolated to a small area at the intersection of Irish Hill Drive and White Avenue in Biloxi. Traffic in this area will be re-routed by law enforcement.

“The purpose of the exercise is to practice cooperation between local and Air Force authorities during a simulated disaster,” said Maj. David Krempasky, chief of the 81st Training Wing Plans Office. “This is a wonderful thing, because we’re building a strong team worthy of the confidence the public has in us.”

“People in the area may hear sirens and see flashing lights, but should not become alarmed. It’s only an exercise.”

Delivery companies, visitors, medical patients, and those who normally enter the base using the White Avenue gate off U.S. 90 will be redirected to an alternate gate as they approach the base between these times.
