Nicholaus Geiser
Biloxi Fire Chief
Chief Geiser has been a Biloxi firefighter since July 2004 and has been promoted up the ranks: Firefighter II in July 2005 and Firefighter III in August 2007. In November 2010, he was assigned as a field training officer and held that position for nearly two years until he was reassigned as a Firefighter III in February 2012. Then in May 2016, Geiser was promoted to fire captain and served in that role until March 2019, when he was named Deputy Chief of Training and Biloxi’s Emergency Manager.
As part of his fire duties, Geiser is also a member of the Mississippi Task Force 3, an urban search and rescue team trained to conduct recovery and rescue operations after disasters. He has participated in several deployments, including efforts throughout Mississippi and in Florida for Hurricanes Michael and Dorian and Louisiana for Hurricane Laura.
Chief Geiser, a Biloxi native, graduated from Biloxi High School and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a double major in Business Management and Accounting.
John “Wes” Small
Biloxi Assistant Fire Chief
John “Wes” Small Sr. was appointed Assistant Chief of the Biloxi Fire Department on June 5, 2024.
Asst. Chief Small began his career in the fire service in 2000 with the Pascagoula Fire Department before transferring over to the Biloxi Fire Department in 2006.
With Biloxi, Asst. Chief Small has served as a firefighter, driver operator, captain, acting battalion chief, and training chief prior to his new leadership role in the department. Both Chief Geiser and Asst. Chief Small have worked together in the department throughout the years before leading the department together.
