Biloxi A to Z: Headlining this week’s video is the May BNews Monthly and the new name of the ballpark.
Early this week the May issue of BNews Monthly arrived at Biloxi residences and businesses. Now is it online for anyone to see.
Among the stories: Biloxi parks and their amenities, an aerial view of the new access road along the railroad tracks from Porter to Querens, an update on the new lights and light schedule at Eagle Point Park, a brief history of the Old Brick House and look at the centuries-old Live Oak tree on the property, ways to fill a day in downtown, and the Back in the Day column celebrating the 100th birthday of the Electrik Maid Bake Shop.
The May issue also includes a list of news and notes, columns from Keesler Air Force Base and Biloxi Sports, the infrastructure report, random notes with May trivia, the community calendar, the BTV schedule, and details on the latest “Biloxi Cooks!” episode and the recipe.
Also this week, Keesler Federal Credit Union, who was awarded the naming rights to the stadium, announced the new name of the ballpark on Caillavet Street. It is now the Keesler Federal Park.
“We are thrilled to make it official and add to the excitement of the Biloxi Shuckers’ new season and new owners,” Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich said. “We anticipate a great relationship with the credit union and look forward to all experiencing the Keesler Federal Park.”
The design for the sign and the date for installation are in the beginning stages but the credit union and the city are working together to move the process along.
Also in this week’s video: a look at the National Day of Prayer gathering that took place on Thursday at Biloxi City Hall, the weekend forecast, and weekend events including First Friday, the Gulf Coast Historical and Cultural Exposition, Biloxi Lighthouse Arts & Crafts Fair, and the kick-off event for Preservation in May.
