Biloxi A to Z: Citizen’s Police Academy, downtown parking, and more

Update: MGM Park parking garage is not yet open to the public but should open for the next homestand.

Headlining today’s video is the Biloxi Police Citizen’s Academy and public parking at the MGM Park parking garage.

The Biloxi Police Department is now accepting applications for its third annual Citizen’s Police Academy and those interested in attending can get the details in today’s A to Z report.

The program is designed to give citizens insight into how the Biloxi Police Department serves the community. The program is open to residents in Harrison County who are 21 years of age and older. Attendees learn about the department’s different divisions and even get a chance to go on a ride along with an officer. The application deadline is Aug. 18.

MGM Park parking garage is now open for those attending Biloxi Shuckers games at no charge for the remainder of the season. Once the city completes upgrades to the parking barrier arms, a fee will be charged for parking in the garage which will be open to the public.

Also in today’s video: A reminder about the work taking place at the Forrest and Porter Avenue piers; a recap of the Biloxi Fire Department’s fire truck transfers; where to watch City Council meeting recordings; a look at the weekend forecast and events; and an aerial view of fishing in the Mississippi Sound.
