Barry Lyons, the homegrown major leaguer who had the idea two decades ago to bring minor league baseball to Biloxi, will be honored Tuesday during the Biloxi City Council meeting.
The council is also expected to approve up to $5,000 for a marker that will help dedicate a site in his name at MGM Park.
The council meeting, which begins at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at City Hall, also will include proclamations honoring members of the Asgard Motorcycle Club for their philanthropic efforts, and the children of the city’s Sun Camp, for their work this summer.
The two dozen issues on the agenda for Tuesday include a request to open a second auto wrecking facility on Caillavet Street, support for a unified national passenger rail system, purchase of new Harley Davidson motorcycles for the police department, and launch of a Keesler Air Force Base land use study, to be managed by Gulf Regional Planning Commission.
