August newsletter on the way to Biloxi residents

The new issue of BNews Monthly, with a focus on development in Biloxi and a host of other city news, will begin arriving in homes and businesses throughout Biloxi on Saturday.

BNews Monthly for August 2018The issue also includes information about major expansions at Margaritaville Resort & Family Entertainment Center and Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel, and stories on ongoing infrastructure work, city finances, the new Cedar-Popp’s Fire station, sports betting in Biloxi, Biloxi Public Schools returning to class, and the anniversaries of hurricanes Camille and Katrina.

In all, the 16-page newsletter features 12 stories, 22 images and a full-color calendar of events. Also making its debut in the issue is a column, “Back in the Day,” written by local historian Jane Shambra.

Development, however, is the lead story, with details on the $70 million in commercial and residential construction now underway throughout the city. Said Community Development Director Jerry Creel: “As one new business begins construction or opens its doors, we work to make sure that we have other projects working their way through the process, either under review or ready to receive building permits. It’s important to keep things moving.”

The August issue, the city’s third, also saw an increase in advertising, which helps underwrite the monthly newsletter. Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort, Margaritaville Resort BiloxiCable One and Neel-Schaffer joined the lineup of other advertisers: the Biloxi Shuckers, Big Play Entertainment Center, The Peoples Bank, Treasure Bay Casino and Hotel, and Edgewater Mall.
