“It was a perfect day,” Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich said from his City Hall office this afternoon, after wandering through some 1,500 cars and thousands of car enthusiasts for the annual Cruisin’ the Coast Downtown Biloxi Block Party.
“I think it was great,” Gilich declared. “Everybody had a great time, the weather was perfect, and we had a ton of positive comments from people.”
Cars began arriving at 5:15 this morning, with Biloxi Police directing them off U.S. 90 and onto downtown Biloxi streets, where they created a several-blocks-long outdoor car show.
“I just want to say that I have been coming to this block party every single year since this thing started,” said Biloxian Bobby Migues Sr., known as “Uncle Bobby” to his legions of Back Bay friends and family. “Mayor Gilich made it the best ever when he spread it over several more streets. There’s plenty of room for more cars and people. I think it’s just going to get better and better.”
Said Gilich with a smile: “That’s what we want.”
