Families are invited to cool off and enjoy an evening of free summer fun during the Summer Splash Movie Bash on Friday, July 31, at Point Cadet Plaza, 120 Cadet St.
Hosted by the Biloxi Parks & Recreation Department, the free event begins at 6 p.m. and features the Point Cadet splash pad, family-friendly activities, food vendors and an outdoor movie.
Children can meet SpongeBob and take photos with the popular character before the featured movie, “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants,” begins at dark.
Interactive activities will be provided by the Junior Auxiliary of Biloxi-Ocean Springs and the Lynn Meadows Discovery Center.
Food will be available for purchase from Pleasant’s Sno Cones and More and Pete’s Snack Cart.
The Maritime & Seafood Industry Museum, located adjacent to Point Cadet Plaza, will also extend its hours until 8:30 p.m., giving families the opportunity to explore the museum before the movie begins.
Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, towels, and swim gear to enjoy the splash pad.

School reminders: As students return to school, the Biloxi Police Department urges all motorists to slow down and stay alert. Use extra caution in school zones, neighborhoods, and anywhere children may be walking or riding bicycles. Obey posted school zone speed limits, watch for crossing guards, and always stop for school buses loading and unloading students.
Pool: Beginning next week, the Donal Snyder Center pool will be closed on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The pool will remain open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 6 a.m. to noon. This is due to a staffing shortage. The Biloxi Natatorium will remain opened weeksdays for all adults from 5 a.m.t o 7:30 p.m. Check here for more details.

Council: The Biloxi City Council will hold two meetings on Tuesday, a special-called budget workshop at 4 p.m. followed by a regularly scheduled meeting at 6 p.m. Both meetings will be held at City Hall and streamed live.
