Increase in local cases draws Mayor’s attention

Thirteen new cases of the coronavirus were reported in Harrison County in past 24 hours, drawing a statement from Mayor Andrew “FoFo” Gilich.

“We re-opened some things last week, right?” Gilich says in today’s Be Prepared report. “Last Friday, there was clearly a downward 14-day running average. Is that still the case? The next days will be important in going forward. This thing spreads person to person, and you know how.”

During a message recorded today at City Hall, Gilich said new cases statewide were up 393 in the past day, bringing the statewide total to 10,483, with 480 deaths, including 15 in the past 24 hours.

Added the mayor: “You and I together, every one of us, we’re responsible for what’s happening now and what might happen in the future.”
