Council meets Tuesday; weekend preview

The Biloxi City Council on Tuesday will consider four land-use requests — one involving construction of a convenience store across from Beau Rivage and another for a 24-unit townhome apartment complex on Cedar Lake Road.

The measures are included among more than two-dozen issues on the agenda for the council’s 1:30 p.m. meeting at City Hall. Council members also will hear a report on the city’s finances from accountant Bobby Culumber, who is helping prepare the city’s 2006 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Also on the agenda is the first reading of three land-use and zoning ordinances: to consider creation of the Convention Center Overlay District in west Biloxi, an application to allow a 224-unit apartment complex at Cedar Lake and Brodie roads, and a re-zoning of 14 parcels covering 3.62 acres near Lameuse and Elder streets from single family to multi-family.
