The City Council on Tuesday will be asked to approve measures involving storm repairs to the East End Fire Station, Biloxi Lighthouse, Old Brick House, Biloxi Community Center and restoration of decorative street lighting throughout the Vieux Marche.
Also on the agenda are 10 land-use and zoning measures, including two involving condominium projects: final approval on Beau View, Phase I, a 112-unit structure constructed at 2668 Beach Boulevard; and preliminary zoning for 2490 Beach Boulevard Condominiums, a 474-unit project that will encompass nearly 11 acres in all.
The council meeting, with an agenda of more than 40 measures, will begin at 1:30 Tuesday afternoon at City Hall.
A public hearing to hear an appeal of the Planning Commission’s recommendation against the construction of a self-service gas station and convenience store south of U.S. 90 at Veterans Avenue is also scheduled during the meeting.
The consent agenda includes $200,000 in requests for video and radar units for patrol cars, $75,000 in equipment for the Fire Department, and $35,000 for two utility vehicles in the Community Development Department.
Councilmember George Lawrence is proposing a measure that would halt the city’s efforts to compel property owners to remove storm-damaged elevated slabs and a measure reiterating the council’s determination to fund water and sewer improvements in the Woolmarket area.
Councilmember Mike Fitzpatrick also plans to introduce the first-reading of an ordinance that proposes to rescind the council’s August vote in favor of expanding the city’s northeastern boundaries by 12.2-square miles. The council voted 5-2 two weeks ago to ask the state Public Service Commission for permission to provide water and sewer service to a large portion of the area.
