New dates announced for several city functions

New dates have been announced for several events that were postponed because of Hurricane Ivan. Here’s the lineup and information:

Brown bag lunch: Main Street’s brown bag lunch, featuring entertainment by Thomas Edwards, will be Friday from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Margaret Tremmel Peresich Park in downtown Biloxi. Free soft drinks will be provided. Main Street Biloxi, Beau Rivage Resort and Casino, the city and Bay Press are sponsoring.

Soccer registration: Registration for Biloxi’s youth soccer league will take place Saturday, Sept. 25 or Oct. 2, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the pavilion at the Popp’s Ferry Soccer Complex. Contact: Greg Bankston 518-0149 or via e-mail at paint05@aol.com.

Punt, Pass and Kick: Biloxi’s “Punt, Pass and Kick” competition will be Saturday, Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. at Yankie Stadium. The free competition is open to boys and girls ages 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 as of Dec. 31, 2004. Birth certificates are mandatory and a parent must sign a waiver. Registration is today through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Hiller Park Recreation Office, or at Yankie Stadium at 8:45 a.m. the day of the competition. First place winners will advance to district/regional competition Oct. 16 at the stadium. No cleats may be worn during the competition.

Blood drive: A Red Cross blood drive will be conducted Tuesday, Sept. 28 from 7:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Biloxi Community Center. Also available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. will be $5 fish plates, which will benefit the Red Cross Disaster Fund for Hurricanes. Sponsoring are the city, SouthTrust Bank, The Peoples Bank, Bancorp South and Hancock Bank.

Farmers Market: The Biloxi Farmers Market will use the parking lot north of Point Cadet Plaza on Tuesday, Oct. 5 and Thursday, Oct. 7. The market is open from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. Recipe books also be distributed during the month of October.
