Shuckers offer Phillips-‘possum bobblehead

Shuckers, Barons and a bobblehead? Tonight, when the gates open at 5:30 for the Biloxi Shuckers vs. Birmingham Barons game, fans will get a chance to receive a part of the team’s history.

The first 1,500 fans through the gate will receive a one-of-a-kind bobblehead of former Shuckers outfielder Brett Phillips and a ‘possum.  This bobblehead commemorates the Minor League Baseball’s 2016 blooper of the year when Philips chased a wayward ‘possum from the outfield field during an April 2016 game.

In addition, tonight will be Seat Belt Awareness Night at MGM Park.   The Mississippi Highway Patrol’s rollover car will be on site for pre-game demonstrations to help draw attention to the new state law that requires all passengers in a vehicle – even those in the back seat – to wear seatbelts.

The game is set to begin at 6:35 p.m. when WLOX Sportscaster A.J. Giardiana will be among those tossing out the first pitch in the game, which is the second of a four-game series with the Alabama team. The game Saturday night, of course, will be capped with a fireworks show.

Tickets are available online through Ticketmaster or www.biloxishuckers.com, or at the MGM Park box office.
