Facility operation, maintenance and service in water distribution, sewer collection systems, utility billing operations and water meter functions.  Work involves performance of tasks and operation of equipment, which entails considerable skill. Repairs, replaces and maintains water/sewers lines, service, meters and meter boxes, etc. Install and maintain automated meters, smart point and transmitter.  Program meter using handheld equipment.  Check and repair meter leaks. Reads utility plats, flushes main lines, and inspects manholes and main line valves as necessary in order to determine cause of reported problem. Reads meters as required. Must have the ability to perform heavy manual tasks for extended periods of time. Other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with a minimum of one (1) year related experience in maintenance, utility operations or inspections; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must have the ability to work on-call 24/7 rotating weekend work required with on-call pagers.

Must have a valid Mississippi Driver’s License or ability to obtain one prior to employment.
