Block Grant Program: Biloxi residents learn more

The City of Biloxi is preparing its plan for use of community-wide housing and development project funding through the HUD Program and residents are invited to learn more.

Each year the city, as a participant in the Community Development Block Grant Program, prepares an action plan for the funding of projects through the grant program that primarily benefits Biloxi’s low-to moderate income residents by improving their living environment and expanding access to decent housing, affordable daycare and economic opportunities.

Through the program, the City of Biloxi also develops a 5-Year Consolidated Plan to address and develop a strategy of the community needs.

For the upcoming program year, Oct. 1, 2020 – Sept. 30, 2021, HUD has allocated $462,382 to the city for eligible projects.

To learn more, residents are invented to attend a public hearing at Biloxi City Hall on Thursday, May 7 at 5:30 p.m. The hearing will follow CDC guidelines of 10 or less attendees and social distancing will be practiced.

The hearing will be recorded and will be posted on the City of Biloxi website and the city’s YouTube channel along with copies of information presented during the hearing. Visit online at https://biloxi.ms.us/cdbg/.

Those in need of special accommodations to participate in the hearing are asked to contact Susan Pickich, Federal Programs Manager, at 228-435-6269 or spickich@biloxi.ms.us, at least 72 hours prior to the hearing.
