The Biloxi City Council will hold a budget hearing this afternoon at 3 and another during a 6 o’clock meeting later today.
Both meetings will be at City Hall and are open to the public.
The 6 p.m. meeting will include nearly two dozen issues, including requests for approvals of subdivisions totaling 82 single-family lots off Atkinson Road, a resolution asking Congress to reinstate and strengthen tariffs on imported shrimp, and funding requests involving equipment for the Police, Public Works and Parks and Recreation departments.

On the future: Mayor A.J. Holloway, in an appearance between today’s budget meetings, will make opening remarks to a Tulane symposium about the future of gaming in Biloxi. Also scheduled to speak before an expected capacity audience at Tulane’s Gulf Coast campus: Biloxi attorney Michael Cavanaugh, who represents several gaming interests, and former Mississippi Gaming Commission Chair Len Blackwell, who is also a member of the Tulane faculty.
